It must be the youthful fire that burns in Holger Rune. This is the only way to explain why the young Dane played his round of 16 match at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Munich against Yannick Hanfmann without a long undershirt. The German had taken precautions against this, but had too little to oppose the defending champion. Rune won 6-3 and 6-4 and will play against either Cristian Garin or Lorenzo Sonego on Friday.
After reaching the final in Monte Carlo, Rune only came to Munich on Monday evening. And due to the difficult weather conditions in Munich, I was hardly able to train during the last two days. It is all the more astonishing how consistently and playfully the teenager acted against Hanfmann.
Thursday has not been a good day for the Germans anyway: First, Daniel Altmaier lost the game against Aslan Karatsev in three sets. And almost at the same time as Hanfmann, Oscar Otte also had to say goodbye. The Davis Cup player lost to Flavio Cobolli 0:6, 6:3 and 3:6.
Here is the individual tableau in Munich
