Jēkabpils “Lūši” also won the second battle for the bronze of the “Optibet” Latvian Championship (LČ) on Saturday and won awards.

The Jēkabpils team won 3-0 (25:16, 25:18, 28:26) over the volleyball players of “Vecumnieku” and celebrated their success with a 2-0 win in the series.

Among the winners, Andrijs Chmirovs was the most productive with 19 points, Kristers Lazdāns added 11 points, and Armands Āboliņš stood out with nine points. Aivja Āboliņa’s 15 points did not save the visiting team from the second loss in a row in this series.

In the first match in Misa, the “lynxes” won 3-0 (28:26, 25:15, 25:20).

In the semifinals, the Jēkabpils unit lost 0-2 to RTU/Robežsardze/”Jūrmala”, while “Vecumnieki” recognized the superiority of the “Ezerzeme”/DU unit by 0-2.

This season, the two teams previously met in the semi-finals of the Latvian Cup, celebrating the victory of the Jēkabpilians in a five-set battle, who were trailing 1-2 after three sets.

Last season, the Jēkabpils “Lūšu” volleyball players became the champions, who defeated the “RTU Border Guard”/”Jūrmala” team 3-0 in the final series.
