It is by no means a matter of course that the outgoing coach speaks for himself in a press release informing a club about his release. But Bundesliga bottom Hertha BSC even went one step further on Sunday and published an open letter from Sandro Schwarz in the afternoon, who had had to vacate his post for returnee Pal Dardai shortly before. And as in the official club announcement (“Looking at the table, I can understand that those responsible have decided on a new path”), Schwarz also chose conciliatory words – and assured the capital club of his continued support. The letter to the fans in the wording:

Dear Hertha people,

it was a bitter evening for all of us in Gelsenkirchen. And it was also my last game as coach of Hertha BSC. It’s important to me that I say goodbye to you before we part ways. Because during the time I was here you always stood behind the team and the coaching staff. We felt your support – and appreciated it very much.

I regret all the more that this path was not crowned with success. Because the cohesion was there. And despite the background noise that there was this season, a lot of things went right. Unfortunately, this was rarely reflected in the results.

I don’t walk in evil. On the contrary. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that our team can still get the points they need to stay in the league in the last few games.

This will continue to need your full support, which has always been fantastic. If everyone pulls together in the future, a lot is still possible. Also staying in class. You definitely deserved it.

In this sense: Ha Ho He,

Your Sandro
