Rafael Nadal will not be at the ATP Masters tournament in Monte Carlo

Moment of shock for all Rafael Nadal fans: The Mallorcan announced Tuesday morning via Twitter that he would not be starting at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo. The Spaniard injured his large psoas muscle at the Australian Open earlier in the season and was also absent from the US Sunshine doubles in Indian Wells and Miami.

The “Bull of Manacor” expressed his disappointment, but also hope in the well-known short message service: “Hello everyone, I’m still not ready to compete at the highest level. I won’t be able to participate in one of the most important tournaments of my Career, Monte Carlo. I can’t play at my best yet so I’m continuing my preparation process hoping to come back soon.”
