Rui Pinto’s sentence postponed in the Football Leaks case

The reading of the sentence of the computer hacker Rui Pinto, which was scheduled for this Friday, was postponed to the 13th of July.

At issue is an alteration of the indictment – ​​a non-substantial alteration of the facts that does not increase the penalties requested by the Public Prosecution Service – and the fact that the lawyers do not waive the period to which they are entitled to assess the new crimes that are imputed to the defendants. Francisco Teixeira da Mota, lawyer for Rui Pinto, asked for ten days to consider the amendments to the indictment.

The reading of the sentence is therefore postponed for July 13, at 2 pm, and before that, on May 26, a new session is scheduled for the production of evidence regarding the new legal qualification now made by the presiding judge.

Computer hacker Rui Pinto is accused of 90 crimes in the process Football Leaks: 68 crimes of undue access, 14 crimes of violation of correspondence, six crimes of illegitimate access, one crime of computer sabotage and one crime of attempted extortion.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office is asking for a prison sentence for Rui Pinto for 89 crimes. The trial began more than two years ago.
