Real celebrates a mandatory win without injured Alaba

Real Madrid put a little pressure on leaders FC Barcelona with a win in the Spanish league. The “Royal” celebrated a 2-0 (1-0) win against Celta Vigo on Saturday evening without the ÖFB star David Alaba, who had an injured calf. With that, the Madrilenians reduced the gap to eight points with eight games left to play in the season. Marco Asensio (42′) and Eder Militao (48′) scored for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Barcelona can up their game against third-placed Atletico Madrid on Sunday, but recently there were two goalless draws against Getafe and Girona in the league. Barca coach Xavi called up the only 15-year-old Lamine Yamal to the professional squad for the cracker for the first time.

“He is different. He can shape an era here at the club. He’s trained great and can help us even at 15,” Xavi said before the match with Atletico. For the first time, his team can count on Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, who have been injured for weeks.

But the surprise was the nomination of Yamal. Should the right winger be used, he would be “the youngest player ever nominated for a league game in the club’s history,” said a spokesman for the club on request.
