RB Leipzig definitely wants to extend Dani Olmo

Leipzig – Konrad Laimer (25, as of FC Bayern Munich) away, Christopher Nkunku (25, Chelsea) probably too. So that a third mainstay of the past few years does not break away, is RB Leipzig apparently ready to dig (more) deeply into their pockets.

Because with Dani Olmo (24) the question of the future is still open. The Spaniard, who came from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020 for 29 million euros, is still hesitant about extending the contract with the Red Bulls.

Those responsible for sports director Max Eberl (49) will not be patient for much longer. They want a timely decision before the end of the season. When asked if Olmo might be waiting for Leipzig to qualify for the Champions League again, Eberl said: “We won’t want to wait that long. We want to know beforehand how things will continue.”

One thing is certain: if he does not want to extend, RB will have to sell him next summer so as not to lose him on a free transfer a year later.

Olmo’s youth club, on the other hand, is considering the latter option. Barca representatives are said to have told the player side during the Winter World Cup in Qatar that they would like to sign him in 2024. That would be worthwhile for the 24-year-old due to a signing fee, but it would be a disaster for the Red Bulls.

On the other hand, RB André Silva (27) would probably not put any obstacles in the way if a solvent buyer were to be found for the striker, who was tied until 2026.
