Pierre Pineau, quiet strength

His program after the first tournament in the Emirates still remains uncertain at the time of writing. He thus remains “waiting” for a very hypothetical invitation for theopen d’Italy on the European Tour (May 4-7) at Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, where the next Ryder Cup at the end of September. We will most certainly see him the following week, still on the DP World Tour, near Antwerp (Belgium) for the Soudal Open

As we can see, Pierre Pineau, in possession of a category 18 on the European Tour, has been sailing between the two divisions since the start of the season. His results are clearly mixed. On the one hand, six tournaments played on the Challenge Tour and only two cuts cleared. On the other, four tournaments played on the DP World Tour and a pretty clear round, with the added bonus of a top 10 (10e at theAustralian Open December 4, 2022) and two top 15s (11e To Maurice December 18 then 15e in Kenya on March 12).

“When I play on the DP World Tour, I am much more motivatedhe admits. I know it’s not right to react like that, but it’s the truth. It should be the same on the Challenge Tour. There is also this frustration on the DP World Tour where I am told almost every week that I will have an invitation and when I finish, I don’t see anything coming. Because I’m not well enough known yet. We prefer to give these invitations to boys like Bjerregaard, The door or Paratore while they did not put a point on the Tour. Me, I made three top 15s… So I find myself on the Challenge Tour when I could be above. So I feel a little offended. »

“The other explanation is that on the DP World Tour, the courses are harderhe adds. With firm greens and big roughs while on the Challenge Tour they are quite easy. And me, I find myself there more when it’s difficult. In Mauritius, Australia, Kenya, it was very windy. I like this. I don’t like courses where it wins at -25 every week, like on the Challenge Tour. »
