“Catalonia’s external projection is well above of any situation like the one that is taking place at FC Barcelona. Its projection capacity is far superior to what can be given in relation to this case that is being investigated”. These are the words of Pere Aragonès, Catalan regional president, who spoke with EFE in an interview in which, among other things, , talks about the famous Negreira case.
Of course, Aragonés wants to make it clear that the most important thing in sport is to compete on equal terms: “But our will is, obviously, let there always be fair play everywhere and that we continue to have strong sports clubs that contribute so much to the country”.
On the other hand, the Catalan regional president has commented that he has not spoken with the highest representative of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, and that, if necessary, they will take institutional measures on the matter: “We will see if there is a decision to be made in the future.”
These statements appear the same week in which there is still much talk about the more than possible sanction of UEFA against Barcelona. The highest European body is very aware of what is happening and has already opened an investigation into what happened with the Barça club and the fact of having had anyone on the payroll vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees.
