Onirik – Blue Box : tome 1

Publisher’s presentation

Taiki Inomata, member of the badminton club, fell in love with Chinatsu Kano, the star of the basketball club of his establishment. He trains alongside her every morning. His relationship with Chinatsu will take a totally new turn when one spring day, some very disconcerting news will offer him an unexpected opportunity to conquer his girlfriend.

Hero’s Notice

Taiki Inomata is a young badminton player in love with a talented basketball player a little older than him, Chinatsu Kano. As soon as he can, he rushes to the high school gymnasium to meet her, and dreams of going out with her. He is teased by his friends and does not see this relationship changing as the teenager is shy and clumsy.

Nevertheless, by a helping hand from fate, Taiki will get closer to the high school girl and is all thrilled by this possibility of knowing a little more the one he loves. It’s a cute first love and it’s adorable to see the young man make mistakes, stammer, be tense because he’s afraid of doing wrong. He wants to get closer to her while watching her from afar, since she’s popular.

We feel that his behavior will create misunderstandings, small wounds, but it will also make the different characters around him react and we like that. It’s an unpretentious story, but one that reads very easily. In addition, alongside these friendships and romances, we also have the sport which takes up a large part of the story and that is very pleasant.

We feel the mangaka’s pleasure in drawing badminton scenes or other activities practiced by the characters. We see the seriousness they have when they devote themselves to their training. It makes you want to move, to put all your energy into an activity. He really manages to convey the interest of a sport and to show the importance of having personal goals.

Blue Box here is a sweet first volume. We meet this somewhat clumsy but so complete teenager. He will make mistakes and we want to be there to support him like his friends.
