Olympic Games 2024: badminton, volleyball and shooting at Le Bourget

While Paris has obtained the organization of the 2024 Olympic Games, we invite you to discover the sites that will host the events.

  • The place: three arenas at Le Bourget

Le Bourget will become one of the hotspots of the 2024 Games. The Parisian project plans to build three temporary arenas a few hundred meters from the airport, in the Dugny district, on the edge of the Georges-Valbon park. Everything will be less than ten minutes from the Olympic Park.

The three buildings will be completely dismantled after the Paralympic Games. All that will remain is the footbridge built over the A1 motorway, which will be handed over to pedestrians in the area.

  • Sports: badminton, volleyball and shooting

Pavilion 1 will be the den of badminton, an Olympic sport since 1992, trusted by the Asian nations. China alone has won 18 of the 33 gold medals handed out since the Barcelona Games. In pavilion 2, split into two distinct elements, the volleyball matches will take place. Behind these two buildings will be the shooting range.

For the Paralympic Games, the site will host wheelchair fencing, volleyball and boccia (editor’s note, a ball sport related to pétanque).

  • The spectator capacity

The site alone will attract more than 30,000 spectators. Pavilion 1 (badminton) will be able to accommodate 7,500 people. The two elements of pavilion 2 (volleyball) will have a capacity of 13,000 and 5,500 seats respectively. As for the shooting range, it will be able to accommodate 4120 spectators.

  • Condition of equipment: to be built

The site is completely empty today. Work is underway around the Dugny – La Courneuve tram 11 station.
