NBA, Russell Westbrook on the imminent challenge with KD: “No feud between us”

The Western Conference playoffs are upon us, and Monday morning (2:00 am Italian) i Phoenix Suns they will face i Los Angeles Clippers. An extremely particular race 1, given that there will be one side Russell Westbrook and on the other Kevin Durant.

The two players, former Oklahoma City teammates, will face off for the first time in a playoff game. Despite some old disagreements, however, Westbrook said a ESPN that between him and KD there is no hatred or resentment of any kind.

“Everything will be normal for me. People think there’s still a feud between us, but they’re wrong. I think it’s just narrative for the media, something for people to talk about. But there is no feud between us. I just have respect for him, what he’s done in his career and how he’s come back from his injury. But obviously I will do everything to win, just like him. That’s all.”

Durant and Westbrook were teammates for eight seasons, and even led OKC to the NBA Finals in 2012. As opponents they faced each other only eleven times, and all in the regular season (six wins for Westbrook, five for KD).

Certainly, however, in the playoffs things change drastically. And Westbrook, who knows Durant’s offensive power very well, knows that his teammates will have to jump through hoops to try to stem the Suns’ #35.

“I know his efficiency well and his ability to score from anywhere on the pitch. He’s probably one of the best scorers I’ve ever seen, because he can make a basket with ease and without apparent effort. Over the years, then, he has become even more efficient. He has added new ways to score with super high percentages.”
