NBA, Ja Morant risks missing Game 2 due to wrist problems: “I’m not in good shape”

Bad defeat in Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Playoffs by and Memphis Grizzlies. In yesterday’s Italian evening, the team led by Ja Morant gave way in front of the Los Angeles Lakers. On top of that, the Grizzlies had to contend with the physical problems of his point guard. Morantin fact, he got himself a right wrist injury, after a grounding foul against Anthony Davis. The player fell badly on the parquet, following the clash with the big opponent, and was immediately recalled from the bench to evaluate his conditions.

In the post match, Morant did not reassure Memphis fans about his situation:

“I feel sick. Presence in Race 2? It’s compromised for now. I will do everything to try to be there for my team, to be there on the pitch, on the edge of pain. If not, I don’t want to do anything that could harm the team.”

His coach, Taylor Jenkins, he was informed of Ja Morant’s return to the bench four minutes from time and his willingness to return to the game, but the Grizzlies coach preferred to do without:

“He was available in case of emergency to return to the field. But the smartest thing was probably keeping him out of the rest of the match to assess his condition in detail. He felt pain. We have to evaluate the situation day by day.”

The countdown has already begun as Race 2 will take place this Wednesday, also at the FedEx Forum.
