National Championship of ID-Judoka in Oberhausen on April 22, 2023 | BRSNW – Disabled

For the second time this year, the NRSW judoka met in the Oberhausen-Osterfeld comprehensive school to fight for their state champions.

It was also the second individual championship after the pandemic and the number of participants is still not up to the pre-Corona period. But at least there is an increase. A year ago 80 judoka had registered for the individual championship, this year there were at least 115 registrations again, but there is still a long way to go before 200 and more registrations are reached. One participant traveled all the way from Berlin with her parents and five judoka came from the Netherlands from the Institut Verhagen, with whom there has been a very intensive cooperation for several years. All other judoka were from NRW clubs, with Budokan Hünxe with 22 and Eintracht Mülheim with 20 judoka making up the largest starter groups. There were a lot of young judoka there, so that you really don’t have to worry about the ID judo youngsters, despite the even weaker number of participants. The judoka from the Franz Sales House in Essen had bad luck. Their trainer, Christian Henke, had been badly injured during a randori the evening before, so that only one judoka from the club, who traveled with his father, was able to take part in the tournament. It is also pleasing that NWDK President Wilfried Marx took the time to visit the ID championship.

Fighting took place on two judo mats in three different competition classes, divided according to the type and severity of the handicap, gender, weight and, if possible, age.

In the individual competition groups, 2-5 judoka met each other. Everyone had to fight against everyone, no fighter was eliminated early, everyone stayed until the end of the respective competition.

While competition class 3 was still fought with relatively limited movement dynamics, competition class 2 and of course especially in WK 1 were quite fast. There were a few surprises here. Andrea Kuhne from Hünxe, who was undefeated for years, suffered a defeat again for the first time against Sandra Kock from Dülmen and Christian Pallas (Dülmen) also surpassed himself among the men that day and was able to prevail against the Bocholt series winner Patrick Barendonk for the first time. Overall, the ID judoka from North Rhine-Westphalia appeared to be well prepared to take part in the German ID Championships in Neubrandenburg in three weeks

The award ceremony was held shortly after 3:00 p.m. Each judoka was called out for the honor and awarded a medal. Everyone agreed: This was once again a very successful judo event. A big thank you goes to the team around Sergio Sessini from the Turnerbund Osterfeld, which organized this successful championship professionally in cooperation with PSV Oberhausen. The ID judoka will meet again in Oberhausen next year.
