The former coach of Nacional, Ricardo Zielinski, was made official as the new technical director of Independiente de Avellaneda after his meager tenure at Nacional de Montevideo.

The Russian signed a contract until June 2024, and in his debut with Red he will face Racing this Sunday, a team he already knew how to lead (14 games in 2016), in the Avellaneda classic.

His arrival comes after the Uruguayan Pablo Repetto decided not to assume the technical direction of the professional team after the resignation of the club’s president, Fabián Doman, beyond the fact that the negotiations were very advanced.

“My idea in all places and teams was always the same: try to be the protagonist. It will depend on the condition in which the players feel better”, the DT began by saying on his arrival at the institution interviewed by Radio La Red

“If they feel good pushing up, we’ll push up; if not, we will press in the middle. And if not, we will shoot the team in a lower line. Everyone would like to play like Manchester City, but each one of those players costs 100 million euros,” said the Russian.

“I try to play at home and away in the same way. My teams were always protagonists. I adapt to the players out there. Sometimes you push hard, sometimes you don’t, sometimes you have to defend more than on other occasions, ”he added.

His new team is 25th out of 28 teams that play in the Professional League, two above the last, which is Unión de Santa Fe, and fighting for permanence. Add nine points out of 33 possible, and in his squad are the Uruguayans Martín Cauteruccio, Edgar Elizalde, Diego Segovia and Baltasar Barcia.

The coach, in his time at Nacional, directed eight Apertura games, three wins, three draws and two losses, with 12 points out of 21 possible.
