Motorcycle champion Márquez will also miss the Spanish Grand Prix due to a hand injury

Márquez broke his right thumb in a crash in the season opener in Portugal. After the operation, he did not start in the Grand Prix of Argentina or America. He originally wanted to return at his home circuit in Jerez, but the doctors did not recommend it after today’s check-up.

“Even though the injury is healing, the bone is not yet healed and it would be risky to race in Jerez. Together with the medical team, we decided not to risk it, to wait another two weeks and come back in Le Mans,” said Márquez.

In Spain, he will be replaced by compatriot Iker Lecuona.
