Moto3 Ranking | Jaume Masiá wins pole position in Austin in Moto3

The Spanish Jaume Masia (Honda) has achieved the fifth “pole position” of his sports career and the first of this season, being the fastest in the second classification for the Grand Prix of the Americas of Moto3 in the COTA circuit (Circuit Of The Americas), ahead of the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) and also Spanish Iván Ortola (KTM).

There were numerous crashes, both in the first and in the second classification, which left several riders without getting an official classification in them, which relegated them to the bottom of the table in each of them, as in the case of David Almansa (CFMoto) in the first, or David Muñoz (KTM) in the second.

Soon the young David Almansa (CFMoto) ran out of options in the first classification, who he went to the ground as soon as he went out on the track and now without the possibility of returning to his workshop to repair the damage to his motorcycle, which will force him to start in last position, when there were only six riders on the track who would have achieved a qualifying time.

Almansa ended up going through the circuit clinic when he felt some physical discomfort.

The Japanese Taiyo Furusato (Honda) was the first leader in those initial moments of doubt, but immediately the rest of the riders took to the track and some of the Spanish representatives took command of the table, with Xavier Artigas (CFMoto) and David Salvador (KTM) as main references.

No one could break Artigas and Salvadorwho got a pass to the second classification together with the Malaysian Syarifuddin Azman (KTM) and the Japanese Ryusei Yamanaka (GasGas), while the Colombian of Spanish origin David Alonso (GasGas), Ana Carrasco (KTM) and David Almansa.

Almost immediately the second classification began, in which the riders used different strategies, as some started with new tires and others with used tires, although some, like the Spanish David Muñoz (KTM), it was short-lived when he was airborne at the exit of turn eleven without completing a single lap.

The Spanish Iván Ortolá (KTM) was the fastest initially, later surpassed by his compatriot Jaume Masiá (Honda) and with the Brazilian Diogo Moreira (KTM) behind them.

Shortly after, and after having set the fourth fastest time, Daniel Holgado (KTM) crashed, as did the Japanese Kaito Toba (KTM), who flew through the air at turn twelve, inflicting a strong blow.

In front, Jaume Masiá remained in the first position despite the attacks of the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna), who was one tenth of a second behind the Spaniard’s time, 2:16.250, with Iván Ortolá third and Diogo Moreira in fourth place.

There was barely one more lap to go on the American track and in it David Muñoz could be seen who managed to repair the damage to his bike after the crash to try to get a qualifying time by getting the slipstream of several rivals in that last lap, but his time was disallowed for exceeding the limits of the circuit.

So, David Muñoz finished last in the second classification, which was dominated by Jaume Masiáahead of Ayumu Sasaki, Iván Ortolá, Diogo Moreira, Daniel Holgado and Stefano Nepa in the first two starting lines.

Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM), Matteo Bertelle (Honda) and Xavier Artigas finished on the third row, with Tatsuki Suzuki (Honda), José Antonio Rueda (KTM) and David Salvador (KTM) on the fourth; and the Italian Romano Fenati (Honda), the Turkish Déniz Öncü (KTM) and the Japanese Kaito Toba (KTM), in fifth.
