More than 400 children meet in Ontinyent with the AITEX Olympics

4th grade ESO students from eight schools in Ontinyent, L’Olleria and Bocairent participated

Yesterday, Thursday, the municipal sports center of Tinting hosted the AITEX 2023 Olympics, a fun-sports event aimed at 4th ESO students, which are held in the capital of Vall d’Albaida for the second consecutive time.

More than 400 students from 8 educational centers have gathered at the Ontinyent Municipal Sports Center to enjoy a day of sports activities and games, but also coexistence, to foster relationships and communication between students from different centers.

The educational centers that have attended are: IES Jaume I, Colegio San José, Colegio Santa María, IES L’Estació, Colegio Pureza de María and Colegio La Concepción de Ontinyent, IES Bocairent de Bocairent and IES Vermellar de l’Olleria.

The students have carried out activities as diverse as football 8, basketball, badminton, zumba, baseball, climbing wall, tennis, video consoles, laser tag, paddle tennis, handball, mad-race, ping-pong, human table football and volleyball.

On the other hand, all the students have participated in an orientation circuit to look for clues around the sports center and whose theme revolved around the different applications of textiles. The students have been able to learn that the textile industry is completely transversal in different application sectors.

Vicente Blanes, general director of AITEX, has been in charge of closing the AITEX 2023 Olympics accompanied by Jorge Rodríguez, mayor of Ontinyent and Pepe Serna, president of the Intertextile Council and president of ATEVAL. Vicente Blanes thanked the involvement of all the schools in the area and their students in one of the main activities of AITEX for the promotion of textiles among students. For his part, Jorge Rodríguez commented that he hopes that all the students “have enjoyed this recreational-sports day in which textiles have played such an important role.” The day ended with a draw for three gift vouchers for students in sports equipment per participating school.
