Ten days before the end of the dedicated digital platform, the Paris 2024 Volunteers Program has already recorded a certain success, with more than 200,000 applications submitted since March 22, knowing that the organizers of the Games intend in fine recruit 45,000 people.

Instigator of what constitutes the largest volunteer recruitment program ever implemented in France, the Organizing Committee for the Paris 2024 Games (OCOG) can be satisfied with the popular enthusiasm encountered so far in France And in the world.
Thus, while the dedicated digital platform will close its doors on May 3rd, and without however specifying for the moment the origin of the applications, nor the distribution of the profiles according to age or sex, the organizers let it be known today that more than 200,000 applications had been filed online since the official opening of the program on March 22, 2023.
This general figure, announced by Bruno Marie-Rose, Head of Technology at the OCOG, is part of the dynamics of the Tokyo 2020 Games who had, before the pandemic Covid-19generated no less than 204,680 applications.
A few years earlier, the organizers of the Rio 2016 Games had registered 242,757 applications from all over the world.
The absolute records – for the Summer Games and for the Winter Games – remain however held by China, with the 2008 Beijing Games which had accumulated more than 1.2 million applicants, then with the 2022 Beijing Games. whose recruitment campaign exceeded 960,000 applications.
(Credits – Paris 2024)For Paris 2024, the objective of this massive appeal is to recruit 45,000 volunteersi.e. 30,000 volunteers for the duration of the Olympic Games (July 26 to August 11, 2024) and 15,000 volunteers for the Paralympic Games (August 28 to September 8, 2024) with, at the heart of this vast contingent, the stated desire to support 3,000 volunteers with disabilities.
Also, people wishing to get involved in this edition of the Games, and anxious to be part of the 45,000 lucky winners, must first complete the registration form and the online orientation questionnaire, in particular justifying their age. (18 years minimum on January 1, 2024), their ability to speak at least French or English, but also their availability for at least 10 days for the Olympic Games and/or the Paralympic Games.
At the end of this registration, a personalized synthesis makes it possible to determine the missions closest to the profile, skills and desires of potential future volunteers.
Subsequently, the examination of all applications will be initiated between May and August 2023, while notifications of the award or not of a mission will be sent between September and October this year.
In the home stretch, a Paris Volunteers Convention 2024 will be organized during the first quarter of 2024, when training will begin, along with the detailed presentation of the missions expected in the various key areas of the Olympic and Paralympic event.
During this same period, the uniform of the volunteers will be unveiled, with the maneuver, the equipment supplier and Partner of the Games, decathlonwhich will be in charge of distributing one million products for the 45,000 people recruited.
