Monte Carlo Masters 1000: those who withdrew from the tournament

The first seed, of course, is the Serbian Novak Djokovic, who took first place from Carlos Alcaraz and who defends just 10 points compared to his production last year. A different scenario is up to the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipaswhich is the second best placed as a result of the loss of the young Spaniard due to arthritis in his left hand: he must retain the 1000 units that he was able to harvest in 2022.

The Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (7th) also decided to retire due to a knee injury, but perhaps the most resonant absence is that of Rafael Nadal (14°). The Monegasque, who was preparing to compete and who was a priori one of the great candidates to win the title, stated that he is not “in a position” to face a challenge of this magnitude since he is recovering from severe discomfort in the iliopsoas.
