Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 13 Bred From 1998 NBA Finals Breaks Auction Record

During an auction organized by Sotheby’s, the Air Jordan 13 Bred worn by Michael Jordan during the 1998 NBA Finals sold for $2.2 million.

As Sotheby’s held an auction from April 3 to 11, 2023, the pair for sale broke the record for the most expensive pair of sneakers ever sold. In 2021, a pair of Nike Air Ship worn by His Airness had already caused a stir when it reached $1.47 million. But the record held by the Nike Air Yeezy 1 Prototypes of 2008 sold for 1.8 million dollars has just been beaten.

The pair in question? The Air Jordan 13 Bred worn by the GOAT in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. These include the memorable season dubbed The Last Dance in which MJ gleaned his sixth NBA Championship and Finals MVP titles.

For the record, the pair signed by Michael Jordan had been offered to a ball boy at the exit of the locker room to thank him for bringing back his jacket that he had lost during training the day before.

While its estimate was between 2 and 4 million dollars, this Air Jordan 13 Bred was therefore acquired for 2.2 million dollars during the auctions organized on Sothebys.com. New record to beat!
