Metros de Santiago seek to recover their space

SANTIAGO.- With a young squad and looking to recover the space lost in recent years, the Santiago Metros presented their team for the 2023 season of the LNB Super League that will begin on May 9.

The new general manager, Luis Flores, called the opportunity to lead the team’s offices a dream.

“This is an organization with a long history, the one with the longest tradition in the country, and we all share the same goal of seeking excellence. That is what represents the Metros, the vision that Mr. Mícalo, Marcelo de Jesús and the entire Bermúdez family have.

“The main thing for us (David and I) is the way we can transmit that same philosophy to the boys, to give Santiago and the Metros back the level that corresponds to them in the league,” Flores pointed out.

The leader David Díaz, the top winner in the league, will have Jonathan Sarnely Matos, Guillermo Reyes and José Rodríguez, as assistants. Gelison de los Santos, skills coach and Rafael Mercado together with Bladimir Castillo (NBA) as physical trainers.

Marcelo de Jesús Bermúdez, vice president of operations for the five-time champions, highlighted the integration of Luis Flores and the contribution he can make not only to the organization, but to the league in general.

“Metros will have a unique experience at the Gran Arena del Cibao, with their home games. As always at the forefront of the new times, so that our fans can enjoy it to the fullest”, concluded Bermúdez.

Captain Eloy VargasJeffry Arias, Saúl Mejía were present, along with imported Emmitt Williams, Trevon Duval and Terrico White, as well as the new draft picks Adrien Nuñez, Nico Santana and Oliver Liriano.

First game of the season for Metros

The five-time champions will start their season on May 10, one day after the official opening, when they receive a visit from the Cañeros.
