Messina city of sport, all the events scheduled in the municipal facilities

Palm Sunday in the name of sport in the city of Messina which will host a series of sporting events, sponsored by the Municipality, characterized by national and regional level competitions with the participation of 1500 athletes engaged in various disciplines from judo to karate, badminton, athletics for people with intellectual and relational disabilities and swimming.

The appointments, all starting at 9 am, will take place throughout the day in the various municipal sports facilities. The program of events includes: al Palarescifina, the Franco Costa Memorial – Criterium Giovanissimi Judo; to the Palatracuzzi, Junior Grand Prix Tournament youth karate; at the Graziella Campagna swimming pool, the Championship of excellence Province of Messina; to the Flanebiolo, the Italian Serie B team championship; to the Capuchin camp, the FISDIR Regional Athletics Championship for athletes with intellectual and relational disabilities. Finally, the day of sport will be completed with a training course for Paralympic technicians to be held in the Salone delle Bandiere of Palazzo Zanca.

Satisfaction with the busy sports program expressed by Mayor Federico Basile. “Our administrative action has focused on sport – said the mayor – because in addition to being based on the values ​​of solidarity, respect for the person and the rules, sport is also a tool for promoting and enhancing the territory”.

And on the binomial sport-tourism he adds “the presence of sporting events, among other things, involves the presence in the city of numerous athletes with their families who will have the opportunity to get to know and appreciate our scenic, artistic and monumental beauties together with the traditions gastronomic, with the opportunity to convey and give visibility beyond the Strait. In fact, for this weekend many of our accommodation facilities are fully booked, demonstrating how, even through similar events and sporting events, the tourist attraction of Messina can be increased which, bringing wealth to our economy, stimulates entrepreneurs to make new investments in the area ”.

“In order to achieve the goal of Messina, an attractive city for the world of sport” we will continue, together with the councilor Massimo Finocchiaro and the expert Francesco Giorgio, to plan the implementation of redevelopment interventions of the sports facilities, also necessary to host national and international events”, concluded Mayor Basile.
