Marry or Break Up: New Queer Dating Show on Netflix – Video of the Day 04/17/2023

“I don’t even want to say her name anymore. She’s like Voldemort to me.” That’s just a quote from a loud argument featured in the nearly two-minute trailer for American dating show The Ultimatum: Queer Love.

Last year Netflix already showed a zen-part heterosexual season of the “social experiment”. In it, six unmarried couples were mixed together, so they lived together with another partner for several weeks. After that they had to decide: are they really going through with the wedding or is the relationship over? In the straight version, only half of the couples got wedding bells after that.

In “The Ultimatum: Queer Love” there are ten women and non-binary people, of which one person in each couple is marriage-enthusiastic and one is marriage-critical. At the end of the day, they too have to decide: marriage or being single.

The presenter of the queer show is the US actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who has been married to a well-known baseball player since 2010 and is known, among other things, from the Netflix series “Se Magnolien”. The straight season was moderated by actor and singer Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love is available on Netflix May 24th.

The series comes from the production company Kinetic Content, which has already brought the reality series Married at First Sight “Marriage at First Sight” and “Love is Blind” to the screens. (cw)
