From arson to murder investigation
A spokesman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said first responders discovered the body in an open field in the small town of Ruskin, about 20 kilometers south of Tampa.
The case is still under investigation and is now classified as a murder investigation. The sheriff’s office said the body was so badly burned that officers at the scene were unable to identify the victim.

An unknown caller dialed 911 on Saturday morning. The man thought he saw a mannequin on fire in a field behind a residential area – but when firefighters arrived at the scene, officers determined it was a human body.
“This is a harrowing case,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Currently, our officials are doing everything they can to find out what happened to this person. We believe this is an isolated case and we will continue to investigate until we know how this horrific crime happened.”
