Mambisas reconquer the Superior Basketball League

With a hard-fought victory over the Guantánamo team (83-73), the Mambisas from Santiago de Cuba won the title in the women’s branch of the Superior Basketball League (LSB), for the second consecutive year.

In the Alejandro Urgellés Multipurpose Hall, the indomitables are doubly strong and this Wednesday they made it count, completing the sweep in the final. They took advantage at the start of the match, arming themselves with an excellent display from center Bexy Claro (15 points) and maintaining the defensive solidity that has characterized them throughout the tournament.

The first two periods were played at the rhythm of the conga and had a “red and black” color (18-12; 26-11), and by the break, the difference in the score exceeded twenty units. When they resumed their actions, the Guantánamo team had good minutes, with a
string of baskets that threatened to close the gap.

However, the locals found gaps in the Guerreras del Guaso game and reached the last quarter comfortably, with a score of 70-48. Guantánamo pressed again in the closing stages and in what way, they were more effective on the board to the point of taking the partial 25-13, but they could not unseat the Mambisas in their land.
