Killed in Annex was Fernando Vanoye, a former high-performance athlete

Ciudad Victoria.- The 29-year-old Fernando Vanoye Coronado was identified as the young man who was beaten to death in an annex in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas and who also turned out to be a former high-performance athlete who in his career achieved at least seven medals in gold in the discipline of judo within the category of 100 kilograms.

Besides, he was creditor of other decorations.

His remains were claimed by his family and this Wednesday morning they accompanied him to the pantheon to see him off.

“We are infinitely grateful for the company of all the people who supported us in these difficult times, my family and I are fine, we will let the authorities do their job, we trust that everything will be resolved in the best way” one of their families.

The death of the former high-performance athlete occurred on Monday inside an annex against addictions in Ciudad Victoria and which was recruited of its own free will since Saturday.

The young man was found beaten and with traces of having been tied up by his hands and feet.

The investigations that the police are carrying out at the moment indicate that he apparently died with a polyconcussion.

From a very young age he liked the sport of judo. He was selected nationally, he won about seven gold medals at the national level within the 100 kg category in Judo.

He placed seventh at the 2011 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, participated in the World Judo Championships in South Africa and was also awarded the Fair Play Olive Wreath.

Shortly after, he was banned from all competitions due to health problems, but he continued with his daily life.
