Jelgava – Latvian javelin champion in the U-18 group: Jelgava

15 participants competed in the boys’ U-18 age group. R. Ragovskis won 1st place by throwing the javelin 56.47 meters – this is a new personal record for him. “Renar is competing in this age group for the first year, so he has to compete with guys who are even two years older. The weight of the javelin has also changed. On the day of the competition, the weather didn’t spoil either – it was cool, windy. But everything went well for Renar – the run, the throw, the javelin flight, even the wind. I am very happy that Renar took part in this competition and also showed a good result,” Renar’s coach Santa Lorenze tells the Jelgava municipal institution “Sporta servis centrs”. She reveals that they also met Olympic champion Daini Kül at the stadium, who admitted that Renard has very good talents. It should be noted that during the off-season, R. Ragovskis also worked with Jelgava Athletics Club javelin thrower Krišjānis Suntaž and his coach Andi Anškina.

The athlete who won 2nd place in the U-18 boys’ group threw the javelin 55.39 meters, while the 3rd place winner threw it 54.49 meters.

Athletes competed in discus, javelin and hammer throws at the Latvian Winter Athletics Championship in the throwing disciplines.
