Injuries Wijnaldum and Smalling: two and three weeks off for them

Bad news for Roma: Chris Smalling and Georginio Wijnaldum suffered a muscle tear in the left thigh flexor. Both had been forced out during the match then won by the Giallorossi in the Europa League against Feyenoord. Recovery times speak of two weeks for Wijnaldum and three for Smalling.

Second injury for Wijnaldum, first for Smalling

The former Liverpool midfielder was therefore unlucky as he had already suffered an injury this year much more serious with the fracture of the tibia which prevented him from participating in the World Cup with his national team. The Dutchman’s return took place last February. First stop of the season, however, for Smalling who played his 42nd league and cup match against Feyenoord.

Rome calendar

Calculations and calendar in hand, the two weeks of Wijnaldum should end in the first week of May, while Smalling’s three in the second. Roma will challenge Atalanta, Milan, Monza and Inter in Serie A, with the latter challenge scheduled for May 6. Therefore, the first leg of the semi-final of the Europa League with Leverkusen is scheduled for 11 May.
