In Spain he is written off after years of struggling, but Vincent Kompany still believes in Eden Hazard: “There is still magic in him”

In an exclusive interview with RTBF, Burnley’s trainer raised several issues. In the conversation, he even had encouraging words for Eden Hazard, who no longer comes off the bench at Real Madrid.

Eden Hazard. What a contrast to the player we loved for years and were short of eyes. Where he still shone on the biggest stage at the 2018 World Cup in Brazil, Hazard will not leave the bench at Real Madrid for the time being. This season, the Belgian has only played 331 minutes. Since his injury at the end of 2019, the ex-Red Devil has been lost and unable to regain his level.

Vincent Kompany returns in the interview to the situation of his former teammate with the Red Devils: “It is too early to say that this is the end of his career. The injuries have played tricks on Eden and that’s something we have to accept. In recent years he has had a lot of trouble with minor and major ailments and their aftermath. I know better than anyone how difficult it is to always come back from that.”

Kompany especially remembers the glorious memories Hazard created and even believes that it is not over for the ex-Red Devil at Real Madrid: “Behind the player is someone who has made our country very proud. You can’t just lose that magic. He remains a player who can create danger at any time. He can certainly still be useful in the final of the Champions League or in the decisive final phase of the competition. We just have to hope for the best, because this player deserves it.”
