In Quimperlé, the 21st national badminton tournament breaks records – Quimperlé

On deck, this Saturday April 22, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 10:40 p.m. and Sunday April 23, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., the 85 volunteers of the Badminton club Kemperle (BCK) have been busy during the weekend of the 21st tournament national of Quimperlé. This edition, counting as the final round of the “elite circuit” of the French Badminton Federation, was that of records with 737 matches played. 448 players (177 women and 271 men) were active on the pitch in the halls of Kerjouanneau and Cordiers. “The tables were all hotly contested and there were a few surprises. Feedback from participants was positive about the organization. Players, spectators and technical officials warmly applauded the volunteers who have been on deck since Thursday. Without them, we could never organize such an event”, recalls Jacky Hamoniaux, the president of the BCK.

Sporting and popular success

Coming from all over France, the badminton players put on a great show for the hundreds of people who came to watch the matches. The BCK players themselves were honored in several categories. The club thus won three draws with Johanka Ivanovicova in women’s singles series 2, Malvy Pelleter in women’s singles series 4 and Julien Charpentier, associated with Florian Le Guyader, in men’s doubles series 6. Three other players reached the final, Hugo Gilbert in men’s singles series 3, Mélanie Recuero and Laurence Storck, in women’s doubles series 4.

A beautiful spring from the BCK

A week after winning the climb to the National 3 championship and seeing three other teams advance to the upper division, the BCK confirmed its beautiful spring by organizing the most beautiful national tournament in its history. The club will continue its good season in other tournaments both in France and abroad.
