Brian Nyman, trainer in Nyråd/SKB tells…

“Here is the short and precise version of our season that just ended.

I went on a badminton break last year and with peace of mind, as we have won the LF championship and yes we have moved up in Sjællandsserien 1, as Kraghave did not have a team to play against us in a qualifying match.

At some point at the end of the summer, when the team tournament is announced, I get wind that we are not in the tournament, as I was absolutely sure we were. Especially since my father already sent an email to SBKr in March and told them that we are taking over the site for Kraghave, as he has done for the past 16 years.

I then call Anders (Nielsen, Badminton Sjælland – editor) to find out why we are not participating and what we can do. There has been a mistake, he says, and we should have received an email where we had to register for the team tournament, but we never received it, neither the chairmen nor I.

We can do nothing, because the tournament is done and cannot be changed. He is very nonchalant in his approach to it and says there is always a cancellation from a team and we just have to take it easy. If that doesn’t happen, then we would have to take another year in the LF series, which we would prefer to avoid, as we didn’t get any challenge.

Yes, unfortunately Vordingborg can’t field a team, yes luckily for us and we came along.

We have had our first season in Serie.1, where we have had a mixed season in terms of results and have played close matches and could have won more matches and got more points, and yes we have beaten Næstved/Herlufsholm both times, so don’t see us as the worst team in the pool.

We should have won over Stubbekøbing BK, where we lose 7-6.

That we are treated so badly once again by Anders and the Sjællandskredsen after the first season, as if we are not good enough and should not have a free pass to stay up, as he writes, that then you can just stay up every time you move down and are not good enough.

It is really below the minimum target, and seems as if we are not welcome and good enough on Zealand in his eyes. After writing back and forth and I have given my opinion about his/her actions in the past season around the start-up and that he has not responded to my emails about moving matches and times, and it has not been changed on the badminton player.

Yes, I have also heard the same from other managers in other clubs. I also write to him that he should take responsibility for that and that it is an ommer. In the end, Anders finds out the rules, that is how it is and we are allowed to stay up in Sjællandsserie 1.

He is offended by my email, and reacts negatively to it by writing that it is also our fault that we were not registered at the time and that he is threatening us that the cooperation between SBKr and LFBKr must be revised when we complain us about their treatment of us.

Yes, he has never really given us a qualified apology for what happened.

I also do not see that we are to blame for anything and have made some mistakes in this context.

That was my version and experiences of our first season on Zealand.

In all the time that I have been part of badminton and played in Zealand, I have never experienced anything like this.

Brian Nyman”
