Badminton player, Denyse Julien, adds a new medal to her collection.
The Rouynorandienne returns from a senior competition in England. The one who represented Canada at three Olympic Games in badminton is back in Abitibi-Témiscamingue with a gold medal in singles in the 60 and over category.
In 2021, I had shoulder surgery. I had a torn ligament. I couldn’t play anymore. It took me about two years to come back, but I still had the bug to play

Once recovered, Denyse Julien resumed playing while coaching athletes in the region, then returned to competition.
For the England event, she faced badminton players in singles, mixed and doubles.
It made me look 30 years younger!
she said, laughing.
Some 570 athletes were registered for this 105th competition. During the tournament, Denyse Julien was able to meet athletes she met during her career at international events.
