HSV striker Robert Glatzel in the focus of Werder Bremen

While the 2022/23 season is slowly but surely turning into the home stretch, the situation for the coveted national striker Niclas Füllkrug from SV Werder Bremen is also coming to a head. As the “Sport Bild” reports, Eintracht Frankfurt is dealing with a transfer of the 30-year-old top scorer in the Bundesliga. However, the interest of the Hessians is said to have subsided slightly for financial reasons. Meanwhile, the Green-Whites appear to have turned their attention to Robert Glatzel at north German rivals Hamburger SV in search of a potential replacement.

Glatzel, with 17 goals after 27 games currently the top scorer in the ranks of the “Rothosen” and in the 2nd Bundesliga only surpassed by Heidenheim’s Tim Kleindienst (overview), has an exit clause in his contract with the Elbe, which runs until 2025, if he does not get promoted. The goal of the attacker is Bundesliga. If HSV misses the promotion, Glatzel’s farewell is considered safe. The native of Munich is said to be leaving the club for around 1.5 million euros. According to the magazine, Werder is closely monitoring the situation of the 1.93 meter giant, although the northern rivals from Hamburg were able to fight their way back to a direct promotion spot for the first time since mid-March thanks to the recent 6-1 win against Hannover 96.

Rumor: Robert Glatzel to Werder Bremen

Even if the Hamburgers rise, Werder should have the wherewithal to be able to free Glatzel, at least in theory – provided that the filling jug is lucratively sold in the summer. “There is always a pain threshold, but we don’t have to sell Niclas Füllkrug at any price,” said Clemens Fritz, Bremen’s head of professional football and licenses, recently with a view to his protégé. In the course of the latest Bundesliga update, Füllkrug’s market value was increased again from 10 million to 13 million euros. According to reports, the Bremen-based company is planning a sale of around 20 million euros in the best-case scenario. This would put the native of Hanover in second place behind the Brazilian Diego in the ranking of the most expensive Werder departures.

As the “Sport Bild” reports, Eintracht Frankfurt recently seriously considered the possibility of a transfer of a filling jug. There could also be a gap in the center of attack in the summer for the Hessians if Frenchman Randal Kolo Muani leaves after just one season. The vice world champion is associated with various top European clubs, including FC Bayern and Real Madrid. The center forward himself had not categorically ruled out a premature departure. Unsurprisingly, SGE sports director Markus Krösche is looking around the market and also exploring the possibilities of a transfer of a filling jug. In the overall package, however, the Bremen player, who has an impressive quota of six goals in six international matches, is too expensive, the newspaper reports. The personnel on the Main was initially shelved again due to the expected drop in resale value.

Rumor: R. Kolo Muani to Real Madrid

With SC Freiburg, who will have to do without their legendary striker Nils Petersen from the summer and are still playing for the Champions League ranks seven games before the end of the season, there is another Bundesliga club that is interested. In Dortmund, Leverkusen and Leipzig, however, Füllkrug does not play a role in the considerations for the coming season, so that a move abroad is still considered likely. Most recently, the offensive power was associated with West Ham United, Everton FC and Torino FC, among others.

In front of his strike partner Marvin Ducksch, Füllkrug is by far the most valuable professional in the Werder squad – together, the North Germans also lead the ranking of the most prolific goalscoring duos in the league. In his contract, which runs until 2025, there is a clause that will reduce his annual salary at Osterdeich from the rumored 2.5 million to 2 million euros from the coming season in favor of the cash-strapped Bundesliga club. All these points speak for an early farewell.
