Herrischried: music meets taste | SOUTH COURIER

A well-filled hall, a happy audience and a varied music program, performed with panache and skill. These ingredients made the annual concert of the traditional costume band Hogschür a success on Saturday in the Rotmooshalle in Herrischried.

Visibly pleased with the well-filled hall, Chairman Peter Matt welcomed the audience and announced a raffle and a varied music program that had something to offer for every taste. With the opening piece “Music is in the air”, conducted by conductor Joachim Wehrle, the audience was immediately put in a good mood.

The program consisted mainly of wind music works by contemporary composers. In addition to contemplative pieces such as “Hymn Of Hope” by George Sadeler or the pop ballad “World In Color” by Thiemo Kraas, powerfully performed works such as Cassiopeia by Carlos Marquez and lively, lively pieces in the traditional style were performed, such as the marching polka “Velburg ‘ or ‘La Brass Polka’. A highlight was offered by trombonist Paula Rieker, who impressed the audience with the piece “Gabriellas Sång” from the film “As in Heaven”. The concert march “Sympatria” by Thomas Asanger brought the theme of home musically closer. The orchestra also showed its versatility with the piece “Steel Skies” by the Scottish composer Alan Fernie and the composition “Straight Fit” by Thiemo Kraas. There was “The Story” as an encore.

And there was a second encore: a youngster in a baseball cap appeared to heat up the audience. The appearance of the rap world star Pete Delay, with roots in Hogschür and current “Artist in Residence” in Niedergebisbach, with his “Base-Machine” was announced to the sounds of the orchestra. Pete Delay, aka Peter Matt, rapped like crazy with his band. There was also an honor on the programme: the trombonist Erika Strittmatter was honored for 40 years as an active musician.
