“He is so beautiful!” Mirra Andreeva raves about Murray

Andy Murray is a man with a sense of humor – nothing new. However, his reaction to a crush on teen star Mirra Andreeva has the internet cheering.

We only reported on the strong performances of the only 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva at this point – shortly afterwards the Russian made it clear for the round of 16 in Madrid with her victory over Magda Linette. She is the youngest player in history to reach the round of 16 in a 1000 tournament – strong!

No wonder Andreeva was then in great demand, including on the US Tennis Channel. Her appearance was impressive in two respects: Firstly, because she delivered an absolutely confident interview at just 16 years old. And on the other hand, because she gave a wonderful answer to the question about the coolest thing to be at the start of such a big tournament.

“The atmosphere here is so special! When you eat here and see all the stars…” she philosophized. And further: “You see Andy Murray walking past you… and just his face… he’s so beautiful in real life! He’s so beautiful!” She gushed with all her heart.

Murray’s response goes viral

It’s pretty easy to imagine good old Andy Murray watching this clip, unshaven and lying in his hotel bed, laughing heartily himself. And Murray wouldn’t be Murray if he didn’t have something good to say right away. And Murray wouldn’t be Murray either if that spell wasn’t at his own expense.

“Imagine how good she’ll be when she gets her eyes done,” he tweeted back – showing once again why the internet, at least in part, is his right. More than three million people have seen the video and Murray’s reaction to it.

“How much did you pay her for it?”

Murray, however, earned sarcastic comments of his own regarding Andreeva’s compliment: “How much did you pay her for that?” asked former tennis colleague Mardy Fish, while others posted iconic photos of Murray in his famous Ugly Christmas sweater and the silly dragon costume he once owned applied for the amusement of his kids.

Will Murray and Andreeva meet in person anytime soon? Presumably “Sir Andy” will insist. Even if not in Madrid: Murray was already eliminated here at the start.
