Hannover 96: This is how Martin Kind finds the Fortuna Düsseldorf ticket plan Sports

Will football fans in Hanover be allowed to go to the Hannover 96 stadium for free in the future?

Second division competitor Fortuna Düsseldorf wants to let all fans into the stadium free of charge in the future. Four partners have already been found and committed for five years: Provincial (insurance), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Targobank and Common Goal (initiative for charitable purposes). They pay 45 million euros – and the fans will soon not pay a cent for tickets.

96 boss Martin Kind examines a fan idea from Fortuna Düsseldorf

“It’s an innovative idea, that’s okay,” said Martin Kind (will be 79 on Friday) to the “Neue Presse”. Nevertheless, the professional boss of Hannover 96 is skeptical: “It remains to be seen whether this is a viable model.”

96 co-partner Gregor Baum (56) is not only enthusiastic: “I think such campaigns are good if they are supported by sponsors. But permanently free admission to the cinema, planes, football, events – I personally don’t think that’s adequate.”

Like all other club bosses, Kind wants to deal intensively and in detail with the idea of free tickets in the next few weeks. Hannover 96 calculates an income of around 600,000 euros per home game. Makes more than 10 million euros in 17 home games – it is not impossible to find sponsors of this magnitude.

That would be a dream for the fans. 96 fan Carsten Nentwig (52) to BILD: “The idea is sensational and would save me a lot of money. I hope that many clubs will follow the Düsseldorf example.”

Hanover fan hopes for free tickets everywhere

Nentwig has a season ticket in the 96 Arena, paid 380 euros so far. He attends all away games and even bought VIP tickets in St. Pauli and Fürth to be able to attend. The guest contingent was sold out.

Totally crazy: In order to be able to be there during the Corona period despite the spectator restrictions, he even invested 3000 euros for a VIP annual ticket at 96.

As a ground hopper, Nentwig (lives in Minden/NRW) also attends other games, is a regular with second division team Arminia Bielefeld and in the third division with VfL Osnabrück.

Nentwig: “Around 1,000 euros a year are spent on tickets. If fans are allowed to go to the stadium free of charge in the future, that would of course be a lot easier on my wallet. That would be great.”
