Goalkeeper from Sancti Spiritus for a ticket to his first Pan American Games – Escambray

Javier Alejandro Vega will look for the ticket for the Pan-American event in the Santo Domingo Merengue Archery Cup, which will take place from April 11 to 15

If he got the ticket, this would be his first Pan American Games.

Javier Alejandro Vega refines his aim in order to achieve the ticket to what would be the most important event of his life: his first Pan American Games with the option offered by Santiago de Chile 2023.

Vega will look for that ticket in the Merengue Archery Cup in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, which will take place from April 11 to 15 and will, in fact, be the last chance for the Cuban recurve bow team that he is part of.

The young goalkeeper not only depends on his own aim, but also on that of the established Hugo Franco and Juan José Santiesteban from Las Tunas, who complete the group.

As part of their preparation for the event, Vega and her colleagues trained and did competitive modeling a few weeks ago in the field of the Provincial Archery Academy, a traditional training ground for the country’s leading figures for major events.

The opportunity can also be taken advantage of as part of the preparation for the Central American Games in San Salvador, from June 23 to July 8, and for which Vega already has a ticket, obtained last year in that very place in Quisqueyan, when he won the joust along with Franco and Adrián Puente.

To get the ticket, the Cuban team must be located in the first two places in the collective modality.
