From Athletic to Nadal, congratulations to Rahm for his triumph in Augusta

Athletic, Nadal, Pau Gasol, the international press… The entire world has surrendered to Jon Rahm’s triumph. His first victory at the Augusta Masters –the second ‘Major’ that adds to his record–, together with his return to world number one, attract much of the attention of both digital and written media as well as television and spokes. In the United States, the ‘New York Times’ highlights the way in which he achieved his success, «overcoming days of severe humidity, very low temperatures, rains that saturated the greenery and winds that knocked down trees, as well as the disaster on Thursday on the first hole.”

Likewise, he highlights the Biscayan player’s game that, “even by the standards of a star who reached number 1 for the first time in 2020, he has played especially well.” Along the same lines, ‘USA Today’ headlines: «Augusta reveals that Jon Rahm is the best golfer in the world». And in the inner text he is full of praise about his performance. He “shredded the field in a way that felt so much more magnificent than his four-stroke margin of victory.” ‘The Washington Post’, for its part, highlights that Rahm “sails above the fray to claim a well-deserved first Masters”.

The North American sports media such as ‘ESPN’ also make a wide display of the victory of the golfer from Biscay. “He returned to give Spain glory in Augusta six years after Sergio García did,” this chain points out, while ‘CBSsports’ points out that the Biscayan “joins the greats of all time to cement his place in the golf history.

The British newspaper ‘The Guardian’ refers to the fact that Rahm achieved his second ‘Major’ “on a dramatic last day” and applauded his spectacular career in the tournament with a forceful “ole, ole, ole” in his information. ‘The Times’, for its part, headlines on the front page that “Rahm’s demonstration of quality puts an end to the rebel uprising”, in reference to the sporting pulse between the PGA Tour players and their LIV Golf counterparts. In this sense, this medium highlights that “the stout brilliance” of the Biscayan “finally turned out to be too much for Koepka.”

Italy, a country in which golf is not too deeply rooted, has also echoed the Biscayan’s success and media such as ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ headlined with a forceful “Rahm Enterprise: The teachers speak Spanish”. With regard to the Spanish sports press, the newspaper ‘As’ talks about ‘A Masters for Seve’, referring to the fact that the Biscayan man won his first green jacket on the day the late rock golfer would have turned 66.

‘Marca’, for its part, bets on a play on words in both its print and digital editions to headline ‘Rahm is masterful’ and ‘Rahm teaches a Masters in Augusta’, respectively. Likewise, digital media specialized in golf such as periodigolf.com describe the triumph as ‘A sovereign lesson dedicated to Seve’.
