Buck Showalter commented after the game that “everything had gone well” after the respective checkups, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic, and that he could be available for the first of the series against the Atlanta Braves this Friday at Citi Field.

Francisco Alvarez; who entered this season as the third-best prospect in baseball, has been struggling with his offense since he was called up to the big team. In his first 11 games he is hitting .176 (6-for-34) with a home run, three runs scored, two RBIs and a .465 OPS in 35 plate appearances.

Likewise, he has been deficient defensively, having a fielding percentage of .988; one point below the league average. However, Statcast highlights his ability to call pitches and when calling pitches. In fact, he has a 52% pitch-to-strike rate.
