J-League top division club Kawasaki Frontale announced on Friday that they will face German soccer giants Bayern Munich in a friendly match at Tokyo’s National Stadium on July 29.
Bayern, who have won 10 consecutive Bundesliga titles, are also due to play a friendly in Japan on July 26 against a team to be determined.
“FC Bayern has a huge fan community in Asia, which is growing all the time,” Andreas Jung, Bayern board member responsible for marketing, said in a press release. “We want to stimulate the great enthusiasm for our sport in the region and to enthuse the people there with our team”.
Frontale have won four of the last six J1 championships, but are struggling this season and sit 15th in the 18-team standings since Friday.
