The decree to extend the transfer windows, carried out by the CBF, was something that greatly benefited several athletes who already play in Brazil. With a stipulated deadline of April 20, professionals will be able to grow even more in new negotiations. Considered one of the great football clubs in the country, the Fluminense is looking for another offensive piece for Fernando Diniz’s group that, despite being quite close, did not manage to take advantage in the first leg of the final in Carioca.

It is natural that a squad that is already assembled, integrated and starring figures like Canu and Marcelo, is one of the most viable options for those seeking more notoriety in the football market. This is the case of striker Mateus Gonçalves Martins. The 28-year-old striker had a brief and dull spell at Tricolor in 2019.

Currently at América-MG, the athlete revealed to the newspaper O Tempo, from Minas Gerais, that he talks about a possible return to football in Rio. Who brought more details about the probable polls received by Mateus Gonçalves was journalist Lucas Pedrosa, from SBT. On his official Twitter page, Lucas stated that both Vasco and Botafogo ruled out any type of negotiation with the striker.

After having faced Peñarol in the debut of the Copa Sudamericana, the Coelho striker gave his opinion on two proposals that came to him, however, he did not mention the name of any club:

“I have two proposals on the table and, from today to Sunday, we will be defining. The negotiations are still in secrecy, but God willing it will work out. What I can say is that it is a club from Rio de Janeiro”said Mateus after the victory of América-MG over Peñarol by 4 to 1, by Sul-Americana.

When he passed through Fluminense in 2019, Mateus had a meteoric passage. In total, there were only eight games, in which he only started one of them, without scoring goals. Afterwards, he also defended Ceará and Cerro Porteño (PAR) before establishing himself in the América-MG team. Mateus Gonçalves has a contractual link with the Minas Gerais team stipulated until December 2023.
