WHAT HAPPENED?

The English Football Association (FA) has confirmed that no further action will be taken against linesman Constantine Hatzidakis.

As is known, the official allegedly elbowed Andy Robertson in the first round in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

PGMOL previously announced Hatzidakis would not be named for any games while the review was under way, but the FA has now released him from sanctions.

“We have thoroughly reviewed all evidence regarding the recent incident at Anfield involving Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson and match official Constantine Hatzidakis and we will be taking no further action,” the FA said in a statement.

“Our comprehensive process involves reviewing detailed statements from Liverpool and PGMOL, as well as various angles of video footage, in relation to the incident and the circumstances surrounding it.”

Hatzidakis also spoke about the incident and revealed he had spoken to Robertson post-match and apologized to the Liverpool defender.

“I am fully assisting the FA in their investigation and have discussed this matter directly with Andy Robertson during an open and positive conversation,” he said. “Of course it was not my intention to make contact with Andy when I pulled my arm away from him and for that I have apologized. I look forward to returning to referee games.”
