ABU DHABI, 14th April, 2023 (WAM) — Secretary General of the United Arab Emirates Judo Federation, Naser Al Tamimi, has received a prestigious award from the Japanese government.
Akio Isomata, Ambassador of Japan to the United Arab Emirates, awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Golden and Silver Rays, to Al Tamimi during a ceremony held at the Ambassador’s residence in Abu Dhabi yesterday.
The Japanese government had announced this distinction in November 2022, in recognition of Al Tamimi’s significant contribution to the promotion of judo in the United Arab Emirates.
For more than 20 years, Al Tamimi has contributed enormously to the promotion of judo in the United Arab Emirates. His unwavering passion and tireless efforts have allowed the sport to flourish in this country and under his leadership the UAE has sent judo athletes to every Olympics since 2008. His efforts have also helped foster judo exchanges and friendship between Japan and the United Arab Emirates, and to greatly advance bilateral relations through judo.
