Driessen shares story about Ajax: ‘Behind the scenes working on a coup’

| by Jesse Ter Haar

Edwin van der Sar it doesn’t look very good within Ajax, or so Valentijn Driessen tells Inside today. The Supervisory Board and Maurits Hendriks want to take matters into their own hands in this time of unrest and would go to great lengths to do so.

“I heard that behind the scenes they are working on a coup,” says the journalist. ‘The Supervisory Board and Maurits Hendriks want to kick Van der Sar if he doesn’t do what they want. They all want to go to the data side. There is a data brain, Heitinga is also attached to it. Vosse de Boode, a 38-year-old girl, determines a lot and knows the German (Sven Mislintat, ed.) they have in mind.’

In turn, Driessen wonders whether Mislintat would be the right man for the job at Ajax. ‘He failed at Stuttgart and then you can go to Ajax. Then I think: what kind of madness is this? It was also not a success at Arsenal. He discovered Lewandowski at Dortmund, but you will discover him too.’

Meanwhile, Hendriks as Chief Sports Officer is also experiencing turbulent first months at Ajax. Yet Driessen says he knows that he would like to move up within the club. ‘He is shooting among the pigeons now. He would like to become general manager if Van der Sar disappears. Well, that’s good for you as a club.’

“It’s a bit over with Tadic”

Johan Derksen focuses more on what he sees on the field of Ajax. He saw Dusan Tadić play against Go Ahead Eagles as a left winger and, according to the analyst, the Serb simply does not deliver. ‘I only see the boss in the field, Tadić, shielding the ball on the square meter and protesting and talking to everyone. Actually he doesn’t show anything anymore, it’s a bit over with Tadić.’
