Joong-soo Kim (63), vice president of the Korea Badminton Association, began his campaign in earnest as a candidate for the president of the Asian Badminton Federation.
Candidate Kim left for Thailand on the 18th. He meets with the heads of associations of neighboring countries until the 23rd and campaigns for the election, then moves to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where the election will be held. His election day is the 29th.

Candidate Kim competes with Ali Almari, vice president of the Asia Federation (Kuwait). Candidate Kim is also currently serving as vice president of the Asian Federation and president of the Korea Unemployment Federation. He also served as the coach of the national badminton team from 2001 to 2010, and if elected, he will serve as the president of the Asian Federation until 2027. He is the third Korean chairman after Chairman Jeong Jeong-hoon (1995-1997) and Kang Young-joong (2003-2006), and is aiming for a ‘Gyeonggi-born’ chairman, which is rare in Asia.
