Corpuz and Yin lead the Chevron Championship, Boutier gets a little stuck

“I see stars. I’m so tired. » Angel Yin finished her third round exhausted in the suburbs of Houston. This is what she confided to her caddy on the course after having nevertheless slammed a magical approach. Exhausted but happy with her performance of the day (-5), thanks to a royal comeback (-4), which put her in the lead (-10) along with Allisen Corpuz: “I was on the course at 7am to finish my second lap. I took a 20 minute nap between the two laps, I was stressed, I was afraid of missing my start time for the 3rd lap. Despite everything, I managed to score by returning a few long putts. My caddy kept asking me to be patient. I’m glad I got there. »

Allisen Corpuz, co-leader, delivered almost the same sentiments: “The course is quite difficult and you shouldn’t make any mistakes anywhere. I drove well and made a few important putts. » The duo is ahead of a trio at -9 (Khang, Valenzuela, Yang) then a quartet at -8 (Hye Jin, A. Kim, H. Kim, Korda).

For her part, Céline Boutier (-4) played in par on this third round (2 birdies, 2 bogeys). The Frenchwoman will start this Sunday at 6:10 p.m. to try to come and snag a new Top 10 in Major for the 30th Grand Slam tournament of her career.

Saturday, in the middle of the day, Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (+2) had missed the cut by a hair, in fact by a point, while the regrets were less for Perrine Delacour (+5), never in rhythm at the time of his second round end. World No. 1 Lydia Ko and defending champion Jennifer Kupcho were also unable to play this weekend. This will not console the two French women but it makes it possible to become aware, if necessary, of the difficulty in managing such an event.
