Persons under official investigation for acts of violence, corruption, fraud, tax evasion and hate crimes should no longer be allowed to take over a Premier League club as owner or manager. This was decided by the league at the suggestion of the government. On the other hand, offenses such as gross ignorance, continued waste of resources and market-destroying spending policies are not yet on the sanctions list. Otherwise, Chelsea will likely have to seek new leadership, with US owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali likely to sail home.
