This Sunday (4/30) Caraguatatuba will host an American football match valid for the Paulista Championship. “Caraguá Ghostship” will face “Mooca Destroyers” for week 8 of the SPFL – São Paulo Football League. The match, which will start at 2 pm, will take place at the Toca do Gato Arena, located at Avenida Alice Arouca, 101, in the Golfinho neighborhood.

In addition to the game, the event will feature a food court and a kids space for the attending public. The confrontation between “Caraguá Ghostship” and “Mooca Destroyers” promises to be very disputed, as the victory will guarantee a place in the playoffs and access to move up in the division. Both teams are committed to winning this important victory, which makes the match even more exciting. “We are very excited for this game. It will be a great opportunity for us to show our potential and guarantee our place in the playoffs”, says Caragua Ghostship coach, Guilherme Freires.

This is also an opportunity for the coastal public to learn a little more about the sport that is a passion for North Americans and that is increasingly growing in Brazil. Radar Litoral brings a bit of the history of the Caraguatatubense team.

Activities began in 2014, with training without equipment and among friends. In 2016, the team was made official and from then on the participation in several championships, including being undefeated winners of PickSix (state championship) in 2017.

The team took a break during the pandemic period and returned in 2022 with a reduced squad, but with a great desire to win. Today there are 55 families directly involved with the team, with 45 athletes plus 10 members of the board, staff and coaching staff.

The SPFL (São Paulo Football League) is the biggest state championship in American football and currently the Caraguá team competes in the silver series. “Our biggest objective is to integrate the gold series next year”.
