In a very tight Western Conference, the Clippers, who barely overcame Phoenix, and the Warriors, who dominated Portland by scoring 55 points in the first quarter (all-time record), came out on top for the direct post season. The Los Angeles players in the playoffs will face off against the Suns of Durant and Booker, while the reigning champions Golden State will remain in California for the match against the Sacramento Kings.

Instead, the Lakers will have to go from the play-in, in the end seventh, against the Timberwolves, who for their part won against the Pelicans by overtaking them in the standings. New Orleans will thus have to face Oklahoma and the winner of this match will go against the loser of Los Angeles-Minnesota. Everything has already been decided instead in the Eastern Conference, with Atlanta defeated but already sure of eighth place.
